Sturk talks about Pokemon Shine and Shade
The scene opens up with a pokemon trainer and an anthropomorphic Wooloo in a pokemon laboratory.Sturk: What's up guys? Sturk-Fontaine here, and welcome to the first of a new series! And this is my assistant, Astrid. Say hi Astrid.Astrid: Wooloo! (Hello!)Sturk: I've been wanting to talk about this for a long time, but I could never figure out how to explain it. Now I'm gonna be talking about the fakemon in my hypothetical pokemon games, Pokémon Shine and Pokémon Shade.Astrid: Wooloo (These than't going to become fan games, so don't bother asking).Sturk: Before we get started, there’s one thing I want to clarify. This serves as an Alternate Universe version of Generation 9, so you're not gonna be seeing any of the cannon gen 9 pokemon in my fakemon region. This is mainly because I was working on this during general 8, before Pokémon Scarlet and Violet came out. With that said, let's get into it.The Alfora RegionSturk: Let's talk about the region my hypothetical games take place in. The Alfora Region is based off of California, my home state. I know, it's another region based on America, but it's the place I know most about. Plus, some of the locations in California can make for some interesting locations in the Pokémon World. Such as the Yosemite Mountains, The Redwood Forest, The Channel Islands, and even the city where I was born in, San Diego. The state's capital, Sacramento will serve as the location of the pokemon league. And this region has a grand underground, just like the Sinnoh games. Speaking of which, time to get the mechanics of these hypothetical games would work. The GameplayWhile Scarlet and Violet took a page out of PLA's playbook and is open world, Shine and Shade are more similar to BDSP. The game would be more linear in terms of structure and the raid system isn't present. However, classic features like the Safari Zone will be returning and the Grand Underground will be returning as well. Just like in Sword & Shield, there's gonna be a limited pokedex, so don't expect to see every pokemon in my region.Astrid: Wooloo? (Am I in it?)Sturk: Oh, well…moving on!Astrid: WOOLOO!? (AM I IN IT!?)Sturk: Moving ON!The PokemonSturk: Now let's talk about the Pokémon that inhabit this region. As shown in the teaser and trailer I released, the pokemon that are returning in my hypothetical games are Pikachu, Eevee, Jolteon, Zigzagoon, Clefairy, Tailow, Gloom, Ludicolo, Zoroark, Hariyama, Houndoom, Poliwrath, and Corvoknight. But you're here for the fakemon, aren't you. Well, let me introduce you to the starter pokemon of the Alfora Region.Sturk takes out a pokeball and out pops a little green frog with leaves on its back.Sturk: Meet the grass-type pokemon, Leafrog. As you can tell, it's based off of a tree frog. It lives in lush, green forests. Its powerful hind legs allow it to easily jump from tree to tree. Leafrog is the speedy mixed-attacker of the group. Before you say anything, there's more to Leafrog than just being a grass-type Froakie.Sturk takes out another pokeball and out pops a small black bear.Sturk: This is the fire-type pokemon, Cuburn. It uses its internal fire to keep itself warm on cold nights. When threatened, it increases the temperature of its flame to burn its opponents. This one is the bulky, physical attacker of the group.Sturk takes out another pokeball and out pops a teal platypus.Sturk: Last but certainly not least, is the water/poison-type, Pladdle. It can detect prey using its sensitive bill. It attacks its enemies with the poisonous spines on its legs. Fun fact, this fakemon was a start from my scrapped Australia based region. This pokemon is the special attacker of the group. I expect to be the most popular of the 3 starters.Sturk then calls all three of them back to their pokeballs.Sturk: Now let's talk about other fakemon I've revealed so far. First we have Quillom, a porcupine with poisonous quills, next we have Poppilil, a flower pokemon that's based off of the California poppy, and finally we have Boldra, an ankylosaurus/armadillo lizard hybrid that is a rock/dragon-type. There's also Voltalon, a pokemon that is based off of the California condor, with elements of a thunderbird thrown in. Which explains why it has the electric/flying type combo. The next fakemon I'm gonna talk about are ones that I'm proud of. Because they're my first fully conceptualized fakemon. Those being Miraglee and Banshenie. These two are an all female species that are fairy/ghost-type, with Miraglee being a baby pokemon. These two are kinda the faces of my fakemon region. Just like how Lucario is the face of gen 4 and Zorua and Zoroark are the faces of gen 5.Astrid: Wooloo! (And Wooloo is the face of gen 8).Sturk: Um…Yes, kinda. So if Gamefreak still showed pokemon before their debut generation, then you'll probably see Banshenie and Miraglee before Shine and Shade were announced. Speaking of which, let's talk about the box art legendaries. We then cut to a cinematic of two different areas in Alfora. The summit of a mountain and a dark cave. At the summit of the mountain, we see a humanoid pokemon with angelic features. In the dark cave, we see pokemon with demonic features. Then we see the two pokemon fully revealed.Sturk: These are the mascot legendary pokemon of my hypothetical games. For Pokémon Shine we have Halokyrie, the Benevolent Pokémon and for Pokémon Shade we have Beelzeburn, the Malevolent Pokémon. While these two are more humanoid than the other box art legendaries, I think it's a bit of fresh air given all the legendary dragons we got.ConclusionSturk: With that said, what do you guys think? Which starter pokemon would you choose and which version would you pick? My name is Sturk.Astrid: Wooloo (And I’m Astrid).Sturk: And we'll be seeing you next time!
